This gofundme has been set up to help with costs that will be endured by the Morales family as they give their unborn child the fight needed to survive and have the best life possible. This requires in-utero surgery at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. This is a very delicate, scary, and costly procedure. Insurance will not cover all of it, if they cover any at all. It will also require Aubrey to take unpaid leave for several months. Read their story below.
This is our story. In 2017 we found out we were pregnant and at first it was scary and I had no clue what to do but we were so happy to become parents. We went in for our gender determination appointment so excited to find out if we were going to have a little girl or little boy. Unfortunately we got other news about how our baby had this rare genetic disposition called amniotic band syndrome. I didn’t believe them and when they told me she (yep we were having a girl) would have almost a 0% of survival due to the extent and her having no brain. I hung on to that small chance of survival because what mom doesn’t believe they will be that miracle. Unfortunately 28 weeks and my water broke I went to the hospital and hours later there she was in my arms no brain, no arm, no leg, no eyes, and no pulse. This was the hardest day of mine and my husbands life. We got through it and Delilah-Rose Juliet Morales crosses our minds everyday. We decided to try again right after that because emotions were high and months later we were pregnant. This time around I didn’t get excited because I was scared and getting my hopes up meant a world of pain. We went to the gender determination appointment full of nerves I didn’t care what I was having I just didn’t want to see the sono techs face drop again. Luckily everything was perfect and healthy and I almost couldn’t believe it. The rest of the pregnancy went smooth other than having to do it with out my husband since he was deployed. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy Asher Nico Morales on July 2nd 2018! We are beyond blessed for him. My husband returned from his deployment and we got pregnant again and this time I got really excited even planned a gender reveal because things started looking up. We went in for an appointment for the gender determination and we were there for 3 hours....we ended up getting sent to a specialist and that’s when we were told she (yes we are having another girl) has amniotic band syndrome. My heart sank all I could think about is how I can’t bury another child. I cancelled the reveal because we found out already due to the circumstances. This time is different though because she has a brain, she has a huge chance of survival and I will do any and everything for Catalina-Rae to have the most amazing life. She has a band restricting her arm and leg blood flow and we went to a specialist in Kansas City who feels confident that an operation to go in and cut the bands will give her the best chance. However this surgery may or may not be covered by our insurance and I will have to be put on bed rest so I would have to take unpaid leave from work. I really need your help to raise this money so our family can do this for her. Our family really appreciates every cent or share to help raise this money.❤️
