Baba Fauja Singh, is the ultimate example of overcoming human limitations and refusing to accept boundaries- be it age, gender or health. He defied all expectations to become the oldest marathoner in the world.
"The Turban Tornado" has inspired millions around the globe.
And his principle of perseverance can be applied to all walks of life, not just running!
The club he co-founded, "Sikhs in the City" has been working tirelessly to promote community wellbeing through inclusive running and has organised numerous races and events. Objective of the club is to bring together people from different walks of life to promote community wellbeing through sports. Over the past couple of decades, people from challenging economic backgrounds to grandparents to special abilities have managed to complete full marathons with the support from the club members.
The club embodies the 'Seva' principle and members routinely volunteer across the community. Now, SITC are aspiring to build a clubhouse to immortalize Babaji's contribution to the British Society.
For me, Fauja-ji is a huge inspiration to start my fitness journey. Thanks to him, I have dared to dream of signing up for the London Marathon.
Please donate generously for this worthy cause.
And do join me for a training run!
