On December 22, just days before Christmas, Aaron Mejia lost his battle with cancer. Aaron leaves behind the joy of his life, his 5-year-old son Sylas, and his devoted wife Nicole. Aaron, only 37, was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He served as a volunteer firefighter and was loved by everyone who had the privilege to know him. Aaron was a joy to be around, had an infectious sense of humor, and was tragically taken way too soon.

As soon as Aaron was diagnosed, he expressed to me his concern for his family and their future if they were to face life without him. Aaron was a truly selfless individual, kept his illness fairly private, and did his best to maintain as normal a life as possible. He never complained; he just wanted to be a survivor for his family. Aaron did his best to continue to work in the Fire Protection industry and was hoping one day to be in public service as a Fire Marshal.

We are seeking to raise funds for his family to help with expenses, past, present, and future. As Sylas is only 5, there will be much needed for him to live the life Aaron envisioned, so please give generously, whatever you can.
