Hello friends and family!
On the left is Miss Charlotte. On the right is Miss Josephine. This past 4th of July marked the first time our twin girls have been together since they were born- nearly three months after their birthday.
In 2020 My wonderful wife Vicki and I learned that we were going to have a baby. Shortly thereafter we learned we were blessed with twins. At 19 weeks pregnant, just as COVID-19 was shutting down the country, we learned that preterm labor was a possibility. At 21 weeks Victoria underwent an emergency procedure to save the pregnancy. At exactly 24 weeks Victoria went into labor and exactly 1 week after that our girls were in this world.
By the time you read this, Josephine and Charlotte will have been in the NICU for 3 months with more weeks to go. These girls are the toughest. They have fought life-threatening infections, pneumonia, eye injections, heart treatments and procedures, and everyday they fight to make their lungs bigger and healthier. Every day they teach us what it means to have courage and grace in stressful times. Despite the many hardships this family faced these last months, we can say we are fortunate and hopefully before long we will bring our incredible girls home.
Vicki and I understand these are challenging times for us all. We feel selfish for asking for help, but we do need it. Vicki and I have made it a point to spend as much time with the girls as humanly possible- several hours everyday and- when we can- every shift in the NICU. As much as Vicki and I want to solely focus on the well-being of the girls, life moves on and bills for the little ones- x-rays, procedures, treatments, and other vital care- are starting to pile up. We have been encouraged by friends and family to start this GoFundMe for those who would like to help our family out.
The money you donate will go towards the girl's medical bills as wells as other expenses involved with transitioning the girls from preemies who survived to young women who will thrive. The expenses have been incredibly large so, honestly, we don't really know how much to reasonably ask for.
Just know that all love and support for these little fighters in any form will be much appreciated.
We are blessed that, despite the obstacles, we are even at this stage.
We are blessed that our girls are in a great hospital.
We are blessed the girls have the most caring and incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at their bedside.
We are blessed to be even be asking for your help. If you can help, from the absolute bottom of hearts, we would appreciate it.
On behalf of Vicki, myself, and the lil' Fairfield Fighters Josephine and Charlotte, thank you.
