The Epona Dawn Fund

The Epona Dawn Fund was set up in July 2019 following fundraising in the local community to mark the 1st anniversary of the death of a young woman named Epona Dawn Frost, known as Eppie to all who knew her.

Eppie died by suicide; her mother (Ingrid) wanted to keep her memory alive by helping young people in the local area to avail of interventions to promote positive mental health and wellbeing, and counselling services. Ingrid did this by raising money through a community zumbathon as Zumba was one of Eppie's favourite things to do.

Over €1500 was raised and given to Fusion Youth Cafe @ South West Wexford FRC to carry out this important work.

So far... we've held a one day mental health & wellbeing event in collaboration with other local organisations, which was attended by 20 young people, funds have been used for counselling services and during lockdown we were able to use the funds to create resilience packs and reach out to local young people, maintain contact and support and let them know we haven't forgotten them. In 2023 we had a coffee Morning for Eppies 29th Birthday, Ingrid organised a yoga class for Eppies anniversary and we had a fundraising event in October and December . This year on April 13th Eppie would have reached the age of 30. So on Sat April 13th her Mam Ingrid along with family and friends have decided to climb Croagh Patrick, anyone that would like to join them can do so. They will meet at the foot of the climb at 9am.

In order to carry on serving our young people in this way, we are asking for donations to The Epona Dawn Fund...anything and everything we receive is helpful and hugely appreciated.
