Miles for Montessori – 300+ Miles for The Ellie Kempley Scholarship 2026

We’re incredibly excited to announce Miles for Montessori – the second official fundraiser for the Ellie Kempley Foundation.

‍What?

Ben and Ryan will be taking on an epic 300+ mile journey over 7 days to honour Ellie – combining running, cycling, and hiking. They will be completing three ultramarathons, alongside two long-distance bike rides and hikes.

We want as many people as possible to join them – whether it’s a short or long run, a half-day ride, a challenging hike, multiple days, or even the entire journey. Everyone is welcome!

Where?

We'll make our way from Leeds to London, connecting two places that meant everything to Ellie:

➡️ Starting at Rigg Farm Montessori, the nursery where she taught

➡️ Finishing at the Maria Montessori Institute (MMI), the training centre where she studied

We’ll begin alongside Ellie’s students and finish surrounded by her teachers and colleagues – a journey that connects those she taught with those who taught her.

When?

Sunday 3rd May – Saturday 9th May 2026

We’ll be hosting a celebration at the finish line with all participants and supporters!

Why?

On September 16th, 2022, our world changed forever. We lost our beautiful Ellie – without reason or warning – to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). The grief has been profound, but grief is just love with nowhere to go. So we chose to give it a purpose.

Ellie was dedicated to changing children’s lives through education. She was halfway through her AMI Montessori 3-6 Diploma at the Maria Montessori Institute, with a future as an extraordinary teacher ahead of her. Though she never got to finish, we knew her passion had to live on.

That’s why we created The Ellie Kempley Scholarship – fully funding a student’s tuition each year since 2024. It allows another aspiring teacher to follow in Ellie’s footsteps, complete the course she couldn’t finish, and teach the students she never had the chance to.

Ellie’s dream lives on – through every teacher it supports and every child they inspire.
