The Dome boilers need you!

Dear friends,

Last October 2022, two of the four boilers of the Church of Ss. Peter and Paul and St. Philomena and the Presbytery broke down, after nearly 40-45 years of good use and service.

All specialists we consulted told us that the boilers had to be disconnected (because of a carbon monoxide leak) or turned off (because of a gas leak on an old valve)!

It was probably the worst time of the year, as the cold weather of winter was on the way: we, therefore, had to go to tender and found a temporary measure to keep a decent temperature during Sunday Masses.

Sunday at 4 am to get a minimum temperature of 15ºC in Church at the beginning of Masses.

Two contractors returned their estimates and we have decided to get 4 boilers replaced with powerful and more cost-effective boilers. The total cost of this project (inc. VAT) is £80,000.00.

In the past 10 years, we managed to get some public grants towards the restoration of the roofs and windows of our magnificent church, but there is no public money for a heating replacement. The Canons of Ss PPP ask your help to complete this project, which will help maintain the huge restorations completed in the last decade.

Thanks to generous benefactors and Shrewsbury diocese, we have already raised (or have been promised) £24,000.00, but we will need to fill the gap towards £80,000.00: this is why we are asking for help to raise £40,000.00.
