The CR Civils 5B Project - 24 hours being homeless
Donation protected
For 24 hours, on the 16th May 2024, four employees from CR Civils will live the life of a homeless person, in Birmingham. The team will consist of Sion Davies, Mathew Jones, Matt Dillon and Steffan Thomas.
CR Civils hope to gain a further understanding of how we can support social impact around homelessness, and understand how as a business we can advise and support those in need of support, we will work with our referral partners who offer opportunities in free training, shelter housing accommodation, which in return can lead to job opportunities, work experience or site visits.
CR Civils will be visiting and feeding homeless people in shelters and on streets, and facing the sleeping rough challenge. We will also be looking for insightful feedback to decide what allocation of the money raised, will benefit charities mostly, this will be determined by our findings, with the below 5 charities having a donation of some form, along with charities from our journey we will meet along the way and through our extensive research into the project.
The focused charities are:
• Betel UK
• Barnado’s
• Basement project
• Brain Research UK
• Birmingham Central Food Bank
RMF Dara McCarthy and the SMP Alliance Social Value Lead Sarah Duignan will gratefully assist us to fulfil out project commitments.
Quote SMP Alliance “We look forward to the findings of this project that will support Birmingham communities”
Why Birmingham?
“Birmingham suffers from high levels of deprivation, with 43% of the population living in LSOAs in the 10% most deprived in England, and 51% of children (under 16s) living in the 10% most deprived areas. The rank average measure highlights Birmingham is ranked the 7th most deprived local authority in England.
CR Civils are currently carrying out a lot of work in and around Birmingham, on some major schemes, and giving something back to Birmingham communities is at the heart of our commitments.
The schemes below are associated with CR Civils social value commitments
• M6 Junction 5-8 DHS (SMP Alliance)
• M42 Junction 4-5 Concrete Barrier (SMP Alliance)
