The Colin Project announces its annual giving campaign,”A November 4 Ever“.
The Colin Project, dedicated to ending the homelessness crisis in the youth LGBTQ+ community, is an initiative of the Colin Wolf Foundation.
Our mission is to fund projects that deliver community outcomes in the areas of diversity, equality, and inclusion for our most precious population; our children. We believe our communities become enriched by empowering diverse viewpoints, treating our neighbors as equals, and including different and unique peoples and their beliefs.
Your gift will support our giving campaigns in support of our mission, such as our recent gifts to SMYAL and Friendship Place across the nation.
Over 40% of youth homeless nationwide identify as LGBTQ+. This community is particularly at-risk. LGBTQ+ youth report twice the rate of sexual abuse by the age of 12. A third of them will be turned away from a shelter leading them to engage in survival sex within 48 hours of becoming homeless. Half of these adolescents will do so in exchange for housing or food, while two-thirds will attempt suicide. We can break this cycle before it begins and end this crisis with your help.
