The charity that supported me during stage 4 cancer

Hi my name is Vanessa. Last year I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 33. The doctors told me it was incurable and could have 1-3 years of life left. My life was turned upside down, I was unable to work and still had to care for my son. But I was fortunate, because my aunt ran a Christian charity called Vessels of Compassion UK and she was equipped to support me emotionally during the time. They planted seeds of compassion, faith and comforted me during a daunting time. They did this through the form of prayer and someone to talk to when I was struggling with my mental health. They visited me and helped me with chores. They supported me to rebuild my faith and 7 months after treatment and a lot of faith, I was cancer free! They do this type of work and much more to other people facing bereavement and bereavement issues. They have bereavement awareness seminars educating and supporting people with grief, retreats and they deliver care packages to university students that are bereaved.

They often work with churches and other charities in their community who refer people to them but their service are available for all, regardless of your faith and I don't think they get enough recognition for how many families they have supported and continue to support.

I am on a mission to change that, I want to support them to expand so that more people have access to their services. In order to do this, they need to reinforce their infrastructure starting with an office and recruiting new staff for admin and outreach work. I've set a target of £1500, but we really need so much more.
