This Go Fund Me is for my longest and dearest friend, Maria - partner of Jarrod Champine and mother to their 3 beautiful children.
No words can express the amount of love, acceptance, and strength Maria has shared with her family prior to this tragedy. It's no surprise she's continuing to support her family despite the grave circumstances.
Although I do not feel that it is my place to disclose the various unfortunate circumstances she is now facing, I do feel that it is my duty to tug at the heart strings of our many family, friends, followers, associates, and even strangers on her family's behalf.
So here goes:
I am creating this GoFundMe for Maria, Charlie, Maddie, and Leo. As many of you may have read on various news platforms by now, her partner, Jarrod Champine, passed away in their home last weekend on July 18, 2020. Jarrod had just recently purchased the Grosse Pointe, MI home they reside in. Now she cannot afford the mortgage or taxes and will have to vacate. Maria must find a more affordable home or apartment, hopefully in an area that the children will receive a good education (the reason they reside in GP).
Sadly, the unexpected nature of Jarrod's death, meant that he had no Will in place for the children, so she will have to start her job hunt sooner than her healing will take place. Maria has not worked in years (outside of teaching the occasional piano student) due to her full-time dedication to being a mother, and the very young ages of her 3 children. Her family's car is leased in Jarrod's name and will have to be turned in due to the expiring lease agreement. All assets (if any) that could potentially be given to their children down the line will take time to process through probate court.
The goal I've set is solely and intrinsically for the new start the kids will need to maintain a reasonable and healthy lifestyle (i.e. a modest home, food, therapy, and a little fun to distract and heal).
I am so very grateful to whomever takes the time to read and donate to the family I love with all of my heart.
