Help Mike & Lisa Casselman!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Tim, and I'm honoured to call Mike and Lisa Casselman my friends.

Who?
Mike and Lisa are two of the most fantastic people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have helped me through some tough times likely without even realizing they were doing so. They have provided entertainment for all of us through their countless live streams, and constantly open their homes to us with wide smiles and welcoming arms!

They would never ask me to create this campaign. When you constantly give help like Mike and Lisa, it can be difficult to ask for help when you need it. I felt I had to do something. Mike and Lisa give help endlessly and unconditionally, but now they need your help!

I'm asking you to help them in anyway you can. $5, $10, $20. Anything. Every single cent will be given to them to help them through this. Let's turn this hardship around and show them the love that is their friends and community!

What happened?
They recently opened up their hearts to a number of rescue cats from Eastern Ontario Cats. Unfortunately, they were taken advantage of and Eastern Ontario Cats is now under investigation for negligence and abuse.

To read the full details of the hardships Mike and Lisa, and their entire family have had to endure, please see Mike's post below (taken from FB).

"Now that the story is out in the news, I thought I would post our experience with the rescue...sorry it may be a long read but we finally feel like we can tell our story about the situation.

Some of you may be aware that we opened our home to a number of rescue cats to foster for Eastern Ontario Cats starting in January 2024.

Well unfortunately that experience left us out of thousands of dollars and without any assistance from the rescue that is now currently under investigation as reported by CTV.

We ended up with 10 cats from the rescue in total. We were promised most of them would only be here a few days...they never left. 2 of the kittens we had unfortunately died very young as they were unable to thrive and gain weight. That left us with 8 foster cats. We were promised medical expenses and food would be covered and both were done sparingly and towards the end not at all.

We were asked by the rescue to tell the pharmacy that prescriptions were spilled to get free replacements to properly medicate our cats. Or to try alternative treatments instead of getting proper care. One of the cats had IBS and was never properly cared for until we took matters into our own hands.

We asked for help and for the rescue to find other fosters to help us with the burden of all cats in our care. Promise after promise of help with none actually coming.
We even held a charity pinball tournament at our house to raise funds and supplies for the rescue. This endeavour took weeks of planning and money out of our pocket and a week long tournament where over 50 people came and participated and donated over $1000 for the rescue who basically ghosted us after we sent them the money. Not one person from the rescue came in support of our tournament or even offered help but they sure wanted our money

We decided to sever ties with the rescue because the cats needed medical care and the rescue was not helping us get them the care we needed. They just kept telling us to give them the cats back. Knowing what we now knew of the rescue, we did not want to risk the lives of the cats we had by surrendering them when we knew they would not get proper treatment by the rescue.

We had vets telling us we were not allowed to seek care ourselves because the cats were not in our names. So we had to get a report written up by PAWS which was the Provincial animal welfare group. They set an order in our name allowing us to get the proper care they needed for so long.

We were finally able to get them the treatment they needed which in the end cost us several thousand dollars out of our pocket.
We also had to try to get them adopted ourselves and unfortunately we were unable to recoup any money we spent as we had to offer them up for free because no one was willing to adopt them for a fee. We were able to home 3 of the cats who are happy in their new forever homes. We still have 8 cats including our own almost 10 months later.

Sadly this experience has left us stressed and cost us personal finances , damage to our home, and also prevented us from taking vacations and having proper time with our family due to the amount of care required for these cats.
While this is a long read this is not even everything we have been put through by this rescue. It has been one of the most challenging things we have ever been through."
