The Cycle of Caring

As many of you know, Mark is a nurse at The Virginia Hospital Center here in Arlington, VA. He finally has a week off from all of the craziness he has been fighting on the front lines; so naturally,  instead of taking this time to rest, he decided he wanted to bike the entire 90-mile-long WO&D Trail loop... and of course, he nominated his twin brother, who hasn't biked over 5 miles, to accompany him.

After initially planning to make this a brotherly-bonding experience, we wanted to make this ride about something much more than just us. Over the past couple weeks, so many people have reached out with love, prayers, and gratitude for Mark and he has truly felt all of your love, so thank you!

However, Mark and I know there are men and women fighting on the front lines in Hospitals every day that aren't getting the praise they should be. These men and women, known as the Environmental Service Technicians, mostly go unnoticed because they are behind the scenes. We can't think of a more important, yet underappriciated job in times like these than those who work tirelessly, day and night, to keep the hospitals clean. They often work the hardest and most grueling shifts at the Hospital and are paid the least.

Tomorrow, Tuesday April 21st, Mark and I will embark on our first ever Caring Cycle. We will donate 100% of what we raise to the Environmental Staff in Mark's unit and their families. We can't wait to share photos and videos of our ride with you all, but most importantly, the joy and excitement this will bring to the staff on Mark's unit who are at the very front of the "front line" in fighting Covid-19.
