To all of those near and far that have had their lives enriched by their time with Keith on “The Bird”, we are asking for you to give back in any way you can.

My dad has been a mentor, guide & friend to so many of us. Generously sailing us around sacred pockets of this worlds magnificent oceans. Giving us priceless experiences and sharing with us his tremendous wisdom.

Keith wants nothing more than to continue his sailing adventures and share in this magic with us again.

Unfortunately, the last 5 years have been challenging for our captain. His cancer battle took a turn for the worst and landed him in hospital. The doctors feared the worst. But we held onto hope. After 6 weeks of being hospitalised, dozens of blood transfusions, some radiation therapy and a whole lot of prayers, Dad lived to see another adventure……

Unfortunately, after he was able to return to work to save for his next trip, he returned to find that sea water had been leaking into his engine. This meant he needed to replace his engine.

In true Keith style, he looked around for a second hand deal and then went about his way to do the entire re-fit himself. For the past 2 years he has been toiling over replacing the engine and getting The Bird humming along again. Basically by himself.

He did it! The “new” engine was finally in.

Then his heart was ripped out of his chest to realise that after a couple day sails water had leaked into the engine AGAIN. The entire 2 years of blood, sweat, tears replacing the engine….. for nothing. His dreams of sailing dashed again and put on hold.

Dad is looking at $5000 to have this engine rebuilt, the time and cost of refitting it and the soul aching wait before he returns to the big blue.

This whole experience could be seen as cruel and torturous (which it has been!). But I think it is also an opportunity for dad to see how many people love him & are willing to rally around him, donate or support him in any way to get The Bird back humming and Dad living his dreams again.

Anything and everything is greatly appreciated and promised to be recognised and rewarded with more sailing adventures!
