Meet Your Organizer

Hi! I'm Steph Zaroski. I was born, raised, & educated here in Thunder Bay, ON. I run my massage therapy practice downtown PA just a stones throw from where the mural will be. I met Camden in high school where parties and shenanigans ensued but it wasn't until we were adults that we became very close. In 2022 after visiting the Chi Pig mural in Edmonton I knew that was how I wanted to honor Camden's legacy as well.

Camden was a very important part of my life and like many of you I love and miss him very much.

I am beyond excited to finally see this project come to light.

Meet Your Artist

Teemu Kilz was born in Helsinki Finland and immigrated with his family to Thunder Bay as a toddler. He got into graffiti in 2003 and after several years of working in kitchens started channeling his artistic skills into tattooing. Working as a Tattoo Artist at Creation Body Piercing since 2015, Teemu has completed numerous murals for local businesses and collectives both indoors and outside.

Meet Your Legend

Camden Blues. Son. Musician. Friend. Animal Lover. Painter. Bluesman. Poet. Artist. Partner. Wildman.

Camden was many things to many people.

A gifted child, Camden was involved in music, drama, and art from a young age.

In high school he formed The Speedway Detectives and later the Camden Blues Band and was the driving force behind both. Having collaborated with hundreds of musicians over a decades long musical career Camden has an impressive catalogue of ten albums (all available on Bandcamp) to show for his efforts.

In 2016 Camden represented Thunder Bay at the International Blues Competition in the very Home of the Blues, Memphis Tennessee. An honor he held highly.

In early 2020 Camden lost his life to cancer.

Its hard to sum up someone's life in a few short paragraphs, and to assume which accolades they are most proud of. I do know that some of Cam's fondest memories were making music with his closest friends in the jam space on Red River Road.

Music was his life.

This mural located on the side of Black Pirates Pub at 215 Red River Road will honor Camden's life and musical legacy.

Please donate to help see this project come to fruition, any amount helps. I have been working with Camden's mom, Susan, as well as the building owner, Terry Tapak, for years as we navigated the construction and revitalization of the downtown waterfront. The final piece of the puzzle, the start of the Mall St. construction has now begun and we will be able to start painting at the end of August/early September.

I am also formally inviting everyone to the unveiling party Thursday, October 2nd. More details to follow.

I am fundraising for $5,000.
$2,500 to Teemu and his assistant
$1,500 for paint and supplies
The remaining money ($1,000) will be used to throw one hell of an unveiling party. (Band, photographer, security, sound, food, it all adds up). Stay tuned and please share!!!
