Hello, my name is Lacy Broetzmann, and I am here to raise funds for my little sister, Cami, and our family. On Wednesday, October 19th, Cami was randomly attacked at her place of work. This attack resulted in several stab wounds around her torso that caused multiple internal injuries. Her lung was punctured and did collapse, her gallbladder was removed due to significant damage, one of the stab wounds went all the way through her liver and cut her duodenum as well as her bowel, and she has a deep laceration on her left forearm that will need to be further assessed for long term damage. She also has several superficial defensive wounds on both of her hands.
She was rushed into the ER to receive emergency surgery that lasted about 4-4.5 hours. Afterward, she was taken to the ICU and put on a ventilator. Since the surgery, she has woken up from sedation and has had the ventilator removed. She is still in the ICU, making as much progress as possible. She is still in a lot of pain and has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
At this time, we would like to graciously ask for assistance with a few financial needs as we go through Cami's recovery. We will be using the funds for the following things:
- Our mom planned to get a part-time (in addition to her full-time job) to help tie up some loose ends. However, due to Cami's attack and current condition, our mom will not be able to take any part-time jobs, as all of her free time will be dedicated to caring for Cami and ensuring she has a smooth recovery. Cami will also be out of work for the foreseeable future, so these will help cover the wages that both Cami and our mom will miss out on.
- Due to the nature of this incident, Cami will need to work through a lot of trauma, PTSD, and emotional recovery. To help make that a little easier for her, we want to install a security system in our home. These funds will help cover installation and keep up with monthly payments to keep our home safe and secure.
- Lastly, Cami's vehicle was damaged during the incident. These funds will also go towards the car repairs her car will need in addition to her car payments and insurance.
- All that being said, this is still very new, and we may think of other items we may need assistance with. We will keep everyone updated as we learn new things and think of new ideas.
