The Brady’s ❤️ (Our Brady’s)

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and understand why we have decided to take on this MASSIVE challenge.

Here it is…

Some of you may know our best friends,The Brady’s, who are quite frankly the most inspirational family. In April 2022 our fabulous friend Kevin’s life was turned upside down at just 42 years old he was diagnosed at A&E with Stage 4 incurable metastatic Colon Cancer. He had been suffering with abdominal pains for months which had been missed by his doctor after several visits and an ultrasound.

Kevin was such a young, healthy, fit man so this came as a massive shock to him, his family and his friends.

We have watched Kevin take on 18 rounds of the strongest chemotherapy regimes and enduring their horrific side effects.
Not to mention the constant routine visits to the hospital for bloods and scans. Unfortunately Kevin has also endured several emergency admissions to hospital which has inflicted not only physical and emotional pain for Kevin but for his wife Sharon and young children Sean and Orla too. Life has literally been turned upside down for our friends.

Being the warrior that he is, Kevin has faced his treatment head on, fighting each day for his family and we can only imagine how gruelling this process has been. He has missed out on so much while being poorly and that brings us to the point of our fundraiser - we want to raise as much for the Brady’s as possible, so that they can hopefully make some amazing memories as a family! Any money raised could also help towards helping Kevin with alternative treatments and targeted therapies that are not available on the NHS and very costly. Kevin was self employed and in a tough manual job so has not been able to continue working due to the treatment and the impact it has had on his physical health

It’s took a lot of persuasion, we are almost at 2 years since Kevin’s diagnosis, and for Kevin and Sharon to let us help them raise awareness in their name is a privilege and we’re grateful that we can try the only way we know how.. to work hard, together

Both Kevin and Sharon’s families have been absolutely amazing helping them in every way, and we, as their best friends also want to help as much as we can too

In order to do this, on the 21st of April 2024 we as a team are taking on:

THE BLACKPOOL MARATHON

26.2 MILES -
SCOTT, ANDY, STEVEN, SPADE, KIRSTY, SHARON, CAMPBELL, LEANNE, ALAN, KERRY & RYAN

THE BLACKPOOL HALF MARATHON
13.1 MILES -
KAY, ALANA, LAURA, GEMMA, AMY, JULIE, LUCY, AMY W, KAROLYN, LYNDSEY, LEANNE M & JOHN

Can’t believe I’m saying that out loud

We hope you will support us as this is a HUGE undertaking for us all - we have NEVER taken part in anything like this. If Kevin can go through all of this tough treatment, then we can most definitely give this a bash.

16 weeks of training, let’s do this!!!!

We will be posting and documenting our gruelling training over the next 16 weeks ‍♀️‍♂️

Wish us luck
