My name is Jack and I am raising funds to support the family of one of my closest friends Paul whose life has been taken far too soon, after loosing his battle with MND-Motor Neurone Disease, aged just 35.
Paul fought hard all of his life against periods of ill health- one liver and three kidney transplants. The latest being in 2021.
Just as life was getting back to normal he then had the devastating diagnosis of MND in 2023.
Prior to his diagnosis Paul was a well respected secondary school teacher at Joseph Rowntree School in York, a career that brought him so much pride.
Due to Paul’s medical history from childhood, he was unable to ever get any life insurance.
When Paul progressed to needing full time care, which was pretty early into the diagnosis Emma had no choice but to give up her job to do this.
After Paul’s Passing Emma is now solely looking after three children, the youngest being six.
Because Paul was unable to get life insurance, Emma Is now facing the burden of managing the mortgage alone.
If Paul was able to get the same life insurance Emma has, the mortgage would have been paid and an additional lump sum to help ease the financial burden.
The system is so unjust.
Paul wanted nothing more than Emma and his children to be safe and secure.
Now he’s sadly no longer here I’m trying to do everything I can to help ease this financial burden with this fundraiser.
On top of the huge loss, grief, no income, bills, a mortgage, their adapted vehicle which was on loan from Motability Scheme, will now be taken back, leaving the family without transport.
Emma has lost everything.
I hope this fundraiser can help ease the circumstances, whether that is supporting the children, helping with immediate expenses, or simply giving his loved ones the time and space to grieve.
But ideally I want us to raise enough to do all of these things and pay off the mortgage.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and will go directly towards supporting Paul's young family during this incredibly difficult time.
If you are unable to donate please share where ever you can - at work- social media- events- sports clubs- fundraisers- anywhere.
It has reached Kevin Sinfield who has sent Emma a lovely message of support, please see the link below.
The help, generosity and compassion this far has been incredible but we need to keep it going.
After Pauls diagnosis he and Emma have already raised in the region of £20,000 for MNDA to help find a cure for this cruel disease, but now it’s time to help them.
I’ve attached articles that tells some of their story.
I have also attached a link that explains what Motor Neurone Disease is.-
