Hello, my name is Habiba Galgalo, and I am fundraising for the Borana drought on behalf of my community.
The Boranas are known for their hard work as famers and herders on Kenyan and Ethiopian side. The severity of the drought has affected and is still affecting the livestock in Borana zone, drought is a complicated natural hazard that has far- reaching social lives and environmental impacts.
Over the past few years this areas have not seen rain. When the rain stopped, their crops failed and their livestock started dying because there was no grass for them to feed on.
As a Borana, our livestock are our bank, if we lose them, we are nothing. Anything we do is through the livestock, without our livestock we are nothing.
In result of the drought more than 8.5 million livestock have so far died due to lack of water and pasture. Millions more are weak and starving. We have lost our livestock should we loss humans too?
Many families have left what they have ever known and loved to seek survival, these family are starving including children, elderly and pregnant mothers are dying, parents are helpless and hopeless.
Humanity is everything and every penny counts! it starts with me and you, let’s put our selfs in their shoes join hands and help our fellow Brothers & Sisters in Borana zones and save the live of our loved ones.
