Ladies and Gentleman:
I am writing to ask for your support with a very meaningful cause that honors my dad – our Big Kahuna – Jeff Santos, who passed away two years ago after a hard-fought battle with diabetes. Throughout his life, he helped so many in his typically quiet and selfless way. For many years, he sent a child to the Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes (Camp Jack). In this friendly place, youth with diabetes ages 5 through 14, and their siblings and friends, benefit from hands-on learning experiences in Type 1 diabetes management and support within the fun and welcoming environment of a comprehensive summer camp. The camp runs for six weeks during July and August and is held at Camp Welch in Assonet, MA.
To honor my dad’s memory, we’re starting a new tradition, The Big Kahuna’s Camp Jack Summer Kick-Off, to be held at the Fall River Elks Lodge on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 12 pm to 6 pm. It will be a fun-filled afternoon with live music, games, and concessions. Our goal is to raise funds to send 80 more kids to Camp Jack, doubling its annual attendance to 160.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. Together, our efforts can support a great cause in the memory of a great man, my dad. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jared Santos
