Hello All - My name is Jess and I have known Matt for many years now. Matt & his family are amazing human beings and they really need our help. Please read below what is going on and a message from Matt, thank you in advance for all your help.

“The last few months have been pretty disastrous and emotionally overwhelming for our family. Staring at a couple of catastrophes has lead us to huge question marks and a complete standstill..

At the end of September, Emmie had an ischemic stroke in her cerebellum (at the age of 29). An ambulance transport to the hospital, 4 days in the ER and a week each in the IMCU and an in-patient rehab center later, we finally got her home. To keep things simple, recovery hasn’t been easy at all, and she hasn’t even gotten to a point of being able to get back to work. Along with that, getting an actual grasp on how much in total the medical bills are is hard since new ones keep coming in.

For Christmas, our family was able to gift us with a trip back to our hometown in California to spend much needed time with family, friends and most importantly, a chance to recover mentally. During this time, our home in Atlanta was experienced frigid temperatures that caused water pipes to freeze up. After thawing out (we believe on Christmas Day), some of these pipes burst on the second floor. When we arrived back home 3 days after Christmas, we walked in to the entire house and pretty much all of our belongings destroyed. The amount of water damage has made it where the house is going to be unlivable for many months.

Some of you may know me well enough to know that I am very reluctant (even borderline stubborn) to ask for any sort of help. But I am at a breaking point mentally and really just don’t know what to do. I don’t know where we’re going to live or how we’re going to get this medical debt payed off and prevent a collections scenario. But I’m trying to keep my family together and be that strength that they need, and I’m struggling. So anything anyone can do will be a tremendous help.
