The Asato Ohana

Donation protected
Aloha,

My name is Bri Simon and I was born in Maui and grew up in Lanai and Washington.

My Ohana lost their home and everything to the Lahaina fires that occurred on Maui, on August 8th. The Asato Ohana home was a multigenerational home. My cousin Kalea was one of the members that lived on the Lahaina property. Our great-grandma Helen Yoshitake (Tutu) got this house over 70 years ago. It was the place our grandmas grew up, where my Aunty, Uncle, and cousins called home. All were welcomed to this house, every time we came from Lanai we would come to this house to hug my tutu and see our ohana. The Asatoʻs knew their community, their neighbors were also multigenerational homeowners. The only thing still standing on the property today is the mailbox. My great-aunt (their grandma) is 81 years old and is temporarily with my immediate family in Washington. Please help my ohana stay in Maui, the only place that has been home for them, as they try to rebuild where their roots are.

Mahalo nui loa,
Aloha
