Hi, my name is Angela and I am asking for help for my brother (Drew), after a failed suicide attempt on Thanksgiving 2021. Drew is no longer a functional adult, has no short-term memory, and cannot carry out daily functions to live independently. His common-law spouse was pregnant at the time of the attempt and was left as a single mom. For 3 1/2 difficult years, she remained dedicated to Drew, going to the group home where he lives with their daughter for daily visits. Life was hard for her...she suffered from PTSD and her only income was maternity leave, then long term sick leave (due to PTSD). She tried her best to make ends meet and this GoFundMe generated $17,067 as of April 21/26, but it wasn't enough. In January 2025, she made the very difficult decision to move back to Newfoundland to be with her family, which my sister and I both fully support. She deserves to be with a constant support system and the chance to rebuild her life for both herself and their daughter - I know this is what Drew would have wanted for both of them. Unfortunately, the years of financial difficulties left her with no choice but to declare bankruptcy for both her and Drew. My sister and I have offered to take over legal representation of Drew, including paying off the bankruptcy and related legal fees, so that she Is no longer reminded of this tragedy on a daily basis and hopefully this will lessen the impact of this trauma, at least financially (all funds raised as of April 22/26 will go directly to those fees). If you can please find it in your heart to donate, our family would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your kindness!
