Support Agriculture for War-Wounded Amputees in Sierra Leone
From 1991 to 2002, Sierra Leone endured a brutal civil war that left many with life-changing injuries, including amputations.
These individuals have faced unimaginable hardships and are further marginalized without government support. Yet, they remain resilient, determined to rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient. They need our help to do so.
The Amputees & War Wounded Association (AWWA), led by Mr. Mohamed Tarawally, strives for self-sufficiency through agriculture. Mr. Tarawally, who lost both limbs during the war, and his fellow members aim to grow crops like cassava, rice, mangoes, and bananas, providing food and a sustainable livelihood for their community.
Last Ramadan, with your collective generosity, we successfully raised $5,000 to support this initiative, providing over 200 bags of rice and essential farming supplies. To truly realize their dreams, we aim to raise an additional $10,000. These funds will be used to purchase vital farming tools, better seeds, and training programs, ensuring their agricultural projects thrive and grow.
Your contribution will directly impact the lives of these courageous individuals by providing:
- Wheelbarrows
- Hoes
- Axes
- Spades
- Rain boots
Each donation is a step towards self-sufficiency for the amputees, allowing them to transform their lives and communities. Your support will help them cultivate fields of cassava, rice, mangoes, bananas, and vegetables, fostering not only food security but also economic independence.
Your generosity can help turn dreams into reality, offering a lifeline to those who have endured so much. Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope.
Thank you for your support and compassion.
