Help Our Family Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire
On Saturday, October 11, my mother in law Mrs. Verna Aggie was doing what she always does: serving others. She was leading the bi-weekly Free Market to provide food for families in West Philly and showing gratitude to the volunteers and sponsors who support the event.
But just hours later, in the early morning of Sunday, October 12, she and Mr. Aggie woke up to every family’s worst nightmare. Their home was on fire and their belongings were moments away from being completely destroyed.
If you know anything about Mrs. Verna Aggie, you know how much love and care she pours into everyone around her. She is the Center Director of Motivated Community Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) organization that serves local youth and families with vital resources and educational programs. She also ran Aggie’s Child Care and Preschool, providing parents with a safe and nurturing space for their children to learn and grow. Beyond all that, she is a mother, grandmother, woman of God, and cornerstone of her community.
While the fire took their home and belongings, it could never take the lories, and faith that fill their hearts. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them, just as they’ve always shown up for so many others.
We’re asking for your help to provide both immediate relief and long-term support as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Any contribution, big or small, will make a real difference in helping them find stability and begin to rebuild their lives.
Ways to Help:
• Donate here on GoFundMe — funds will go directly toward temporary housing, clothing, food, and essential items.
• Give household items, clothing, or supplies — if you’re local and would like to help in this way, please reach out to me Jazmin Watson-Aggie [phone redacted] / [email redacted] to coordinate.
No one should have to face something like this alone. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers as we help the Aggies rebuild their lives from the ground up.
Our hearts are heavy, but we remain deeply grateful for their safety, for the power of community, and for compassionate people like you who make healing possible.
With love and gratitude,
Jazz Aggie
