We’re fundraising to launch free, personalised Affirm Kits for trans people in the UK.
The Affirm Project is a community-based, trans-led initiative working to make gender-affirming care more accessible for trans people across the UK. Our mission is to affirm identity, offer care, and build connection through accessible, thoughtful support.
Gender affirming care isn't one-size-fits-all. The Affirm Project focuses on exploring gender expression through social presentation using items like binders, tucking or packing underwear, makeup, etc. These items are often expensive and difficult to safely access. Our aim is to provide free Affirm Kits to the trans people who need them.
What are Affirm Kits?
Affirm Kits are free, personalised care packs designed to allow trans people to explore gender presentation in a comfortable and safe way. Each kit is shaped around what the individual chooses and what feels affirming to them.
Affirm Kits may include:
- Chest binders
- Packing/tucking underwear
- Hair and makeup accessories
- Other gender affirming items
Why this matters:
Many trans people in the UK experience long waiting times, limited access to services and financial hardship. While medical care is often discussed, social gender-affirming care is just as important and frequently overlooked. Affirm Kits aim to reduce financial barriers and provide practical support, dignity and choice.
Donations will contribute to:
- Purchase gender affirming items
- Packaging for Affirm Kits
- Postage costs across the UK
- Help safely launch and sustain the project
We are also running a binder donation scheme (see @theaffirmproject on Instagram for more information) and working with brands to access discounts. While donations of items are incredibly valuable, financial support is essential to make Affirm Kits possible.
The Affirm Project is built on community care. Every donation, share or message of support helps bring this project to life and ensures more trans people can access the care they deserve - without cost being a barrier.
Thank you for supporting accessible, affirming care.
