It is that time of year again! The 6th Annual Pangburn Day of Giving ❤️❤️❤️
This year, we will be donating food on Christmas Day to a live-in center for special needs individuals in Oaxaca, Mexico!
I just walked the facility with the owner and operator. A truly amazing place.
They have 18 special needs individuals living in the facility.

"Those of us who live in Oaxaca and experience the reality of intellectual disability are convinced of the need to keep the current project, Casa Hogar Acéptame Como Soy AC (Accept Me As I Am Home), alive. Despite the time that has passed since its inception (1994-2017), the cause that gave rise to it remains relevant today: the lack of response from the official sector to the educational needs of children and young people with intellectual disabilities. Meza et al. (2009) present the following conclusion in the document "Diagnosis of Special Education Services in the State of Oaxaca":
“The staff surveyed report that they serve a minimal percentage of students with disabilities; of the potential demand that exists in the state, only 20% are served; therefore, it is necessary to implement strategies that allow expanding the coverage of EE services in order to serve a greater number of students with disabilities, both in school services and in support services” (p.70).
Therefore, while it is true that, based on the results of this research, the population with disabilities and their families expect significant changes in this educational service in our State, the current reality compels us to maintain our efforts and the attention that children and young people with intellectual disabilities receive in this space: Casa Hogar Accéptame como soy AC (Accept Me as I Am Home AC)."
