The 2025 Southern Vectis - Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge
Donation protected
On May the 17th, four intrepid Bus Drivers from Southern Vectis (part of the Go Ahead group) are attempting to complete the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge from dawn til dusk. To make this challenge even harder, we are going to climb Mount Snowdon (the tallest mountain in Wales), at night to start the challenge on the summit at sunrise. Furthermore we are going to climb the second mountain - Cadair Idris by the most difficult route, the South Face Assent. The final mountain is Pen y Fan and we will be climbing that via the start of UK special forces Fan Dance route rather than the myriad of other easier climbs, we are aiming to reach the summit by sunset. The challenge also includes over 130 miles of car travel between the 3 mountains, so completing the challenges in fifteen hours will be super difficult.
We are performing this challenge to raise money for a worthy Isle of Wight charity. The Veteran Hotel. The Veteran Hotel is not the usual hotel, it helps ex-service men and women from the British Armed Forces to get back on their feet if they fall on difficult times, they also provide respite for ex-service men and women. Why are we aiming to raise money for The Veteran?
Not long ago, one of our own drivers (an ex-service man) fell on hard times, through no fault of his own and The Veteran stepped up and gave him somewhere to live whilst he got himself to a position where he was back on his feet.
Marcin, Natalie, Dave and Jamie will be grateful if you could give whatever you can to this worthy cause and maybe add a morale boosting message to your contribution. We have been assured by Go Ahead that any money raised will be matched 100%, thereby doubling the monies raised for The Veteran.
This challenge is going to be self funded and self navigated by a qualified mountain leader as we want all proceeds to go to the charity.
Thanks Everso for any support you can give us to help The Veteran continue it's positive work for years to come for our veterans.
