The 1 Million Kilo Challenge
We are Chris, Joe and Mark.
And we are going to push, pull and lift 1 million kilos in 18 hours.
Can we do it!?
We have all been in a continual sense of awe when reading and watching the incredible work conducted by Chestnut Tree house hospice and have all often spoken about how we can make a positive contribution to the young lives of the children being supported through this incredible children’s hospice. We are not runners, mountaineers, mathematicians or skydivers, however, we all shared a common interest in lifting weights.
For many years we have all gotten up at 5:30am to train in the gym day in and day out for personal growth and fitness. So in March 2023, Chris proposed a hair-brained idea to the rest of the group of lifting a Million Kilograms in less than one day for charity. We could all think of no more deserving charity than Chestnut Tree which has held a special place in our hearts for many years.
To give you an idea One Million Kilos is the equivalent of 100 double-decker buses, 5 blue whales or 2 of the largest passenger aircraft in the world!
So on the 23rd of September 2023, our home gym and great friends GL Fitness have agreed to open the gym for an 18-hour session which will begin at 4am! We have done some calculations, (like I said we are not mathematicians) and we are optimistic that whilst nearly impossible, this is achievable within this timeframe. Each week we are looking to increase our gym time and improve our stamina and fitness as those we have shared this with have all stated this is nuts!
Here comes the begging part! We need your cash! We are endeavouring to raise £10,000 which will enable Chestnut Tree House to continue providing hospice care and community support for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
There are hundreds of children and young people in your local community who are unlikely to reach adulthood. And even more parents and family members who need care, help and support on their journey, as they don't know how long they will have together.
Your support helps families to spend time together. Precious moments that give a lifetime of memories.
