The last several months have been difficult for everyone, but especially for the families that rely on the Joined Hands Food Pantry. More people have been coming to us for food week in and week out, and with no end to the pandemic in sight and winter months coming, we will be distributing food outside to many people every week for months to come.
In past years we have hosted a free Thanksgiving meal, but unfortunately that is not going to be possible this year. We still want to do something for Thanksgiving for the families that count on us, and we need your help to do it.
Our plan is to purchase and distribute at least 200 turkey dinners complete with a turkey, gravy, sides, and dessert. Any funds you can spare to help us get there will go a long way towards making Thanksgiving special for those in need in Portage Park and neighboring communities. In addition, funds will be used to offset costs associated with hosting our weekly food distribution, such as heating lamps and tents.
Now more than ever, we need to come together as neighbors to help each other out. If you are able to help us out by donating, sharing this fundraiser, telling your friends and family, or just sending us words of encouragement, we greatly appreciate it!
