Just past midnight on January 29th, 2026, the Rocky Mountain Roosters kennels caught fire and burned to the ground. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the rural firefighters of the Calhan, Simla, Elbert, and Peyton volunteer fire departments, they saved 30 dogs and the rest of the facilities of our hunting club and our 40-year-old bird hunting operation.
Thanks to their valiant efforts, we live to hunt another day! So many of you have asked what you can do to help, and we want you to help us honor them by letting them continue to help others in need. We will rebuild, but we want to take what you would give to us, and let us give to them. God spared us, thanks to them. Any money we can raise, we will divide equally amongst the four volunteer fire departments.
Thank you for your support over the 40 years and for your prayers for our efforts to financially say thank you to those heroes that don't necessarily wear capes.
