Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it's time to continue our 40-year tradition of giving. This year, we're returning to the Trevor Day School, but we'll be stuffing bags instead of birds!
The past couple of years have taught us valuable lessons. Specifically, the excess of hot meals on Thanksgiving day, and the power of cash donations. It turns out that cash can often do more for those in need, allowing them to address their most pressing needs directly.
Last year, we delivered 200 backpacks to New Yorkers in need. The bags were stuffed with items like lip balm, toothbrushes, gloves, hats, and of course, cash.
This year, we're going to continue giving what's needed. Instead of food contributions, please consider making a cash donation. If you know of an organization that can contribute useful personal items, please let us know. We will distribute this to local organizations and individuals on Thanksgiving day.
Any excess money raised will be donated to one or several of the following institutions:
- NYC Rescue Mission
- Church of the Holy Apostles
- Food Bank for NYC
- City Meals
- Stockholm Family Shelter
- Goddard Riverside
- Cluster Community Services
Let's continue to keep the spirit of giving alive, together!
