Thank Jay - Z
My name is Brandon Davis. In 2008, I deployed to Afghanistan and stayed there until mid 2009. I met so many amazing people during my time there, both locals and American.
One of those people was my main interpreter, nick named Jay-Z. I must conceal his identity for the the safety of him, and the people he loves.
Jay Z did absolutely everything that I, as an American Infantryman did. He went on every patrol, every long walk... he was in truck with me on two occasions that wer blown to pieces by IEDs. He did this all without a rifle. He did his job with such excellence with a mission at heart, that it was impossible not to notice how much it meant to him.
After our first IED blast, he came to check on me, asking how I was doing. All I did was look at him and ask him why he does this? What makes him take the insane risk, and make the sacrifices that he makes? He told me, he wanted to live in the US.
After I left and came home. I often wondered what came of my old friend. And a couple years ago, I received a friend request on facebook, and found out that after several more years of risking his life to help US forces, he accomplished his goal, and lives in the US.
I would really like to show this man, that we care. People thank me for my service on a daily basis. What's funny about that, is this man has seen 5 times the combat I have seen.... And I have to believe he hasnt been thanked for it even once. I want to show this man, his efforts are appreciated. I will deliver every penny to him and not take a dime for my own expenses to get to him.
Please consider donating what you can. I want to help this man in any way that I can.
