Help a Family Rebuild After Tragic Fire

I don’t go on social media with things, but Sunday night was a nightmare for my family.

Sunday June 8th, I lost my babies to a house fire and all our belongs. There was an electrical fire that destroyed only our 3rd floor apartment. For 11 months of staying in this property there were so many unfair conditions we faced in this building: constant water issues, heating problems and bulges in the roof/walls from water and weather issues. So many serious maintenance issues were neglected and repairs were done poorly by unlicensed people connected to the landlord. I am mourning losses but I am also grateful that my family is alive. The building was a ticking time bomb. The fire marshals told me this fire was waiting any day to happen. Our fun Sunday evening turned into the worst day of my life. I watched the videos from my neighbors of our whole lives being perished through the windows. Nothing stood a chance from the fire. It started in the walls of my sister’s bedroom, quickly hit the kitchen, and then exploded through the rest of the floor. If we had been home we would not be here today because of the dangerous conditions we were living in.

Everything we had was caught in the fire. We’ve been living in a state of shock. It doesn’t feel right not having our babies and to lose everything we had in one split second. No warning.
