A new life

My cherished friend of 9 years needs you to be there for them when society and their blood relatives won’t be there. They need help breaking out of isolation in the Netherlands, finding community and friends to keep them company and look out for them; they need a safe and wheelchair accessible place to live with their pet cat and service dog; they need help connecting with medical professionals who understand their chronic illnesses; they need love, encouragement, transport, and resources to search for a coding job.

They have been a shoulder for me to cry on during the bleakest times of my life and it breaks my heart to watch helplessly while they suffer in an abusive household. My life has taken me to Canada and I’m too far away from my dear friend to do much, apart from this fundraiser. That’s where you, the reader, come in. If you donated to the first iteration of this fundraiser, thank you so much for being here and being invested in my friend’s long term well-being. The aim of this fundraiser is to cover the costs associated with finding a new apartment, paying for movers, phone bills, medication, food, bus passes, internet bills, medical care, therapy, pet food, service dog supplies; everything really. Any money that’s leftover after my friend can finally leave their unsafe situation and find stable housing will go towards their first power wheelchair!! The power chair will finally give them some desperately needed independence to get around safely even when their body hurts too much to walk.
