The Davis Family

Hello, we are the Davis family—Sheldon (59), Mira (50), Sarah (12), Joseph (12), and Naomi (11). We are a close-knit, happy family who loves hockey, soccer, and spending time together.

Two months ago, Sheldon began feeling unwell. After a series of doctor visits, we received the devastating news that he has cancer. Following further tests, he was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. His condition has rapidly deteriorated. The cancer, which started in his left thigh, has spread to his lungs. Currently, a tumor blocks 95% of his left lung, and he has two apple-sized tumors, along with numerous smaller ones, in his left lung. There is also a tumor on his heart.

Doctors have advised against starting radiation or chemotherapy, as these treatments would not be effective and would only worsen his condition and quality of life. Sheldon is now at home with us, on oxygen 24/7, and resting in a hospital bed to keep him as comfortable as possible.

I am currently on compassionate leave from work, which provides us with around $550 every two weeks. These funds must cover our bills, groceries, gas for driving the kids to and from school (as our bus system is on strike), future funeral expenses, and counseling for our children.

Sheldon did pass away, peacefully at home, surrounded by us on September 23rd, 2024. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
