My name is Darren McGeown, and I started Time For Kindness as a BBQ for 1,000 people outside Boyle Street Community Services. It then grew into an initiative focused on raising funds for several different causes.

In 2023, Time For Kindness became an outreach program through my brewery, Arcadia Brewing, bringing myself and volunteers into the downtown area to hand out food, drinks, and other essential items to unhoused community members.

Winter is upon us once again here in Edmonton, and we are ramping up our Time For Kindness outreach to support the unhoused community. As the season changes, so do the needs of those living without shelter. Warm clothing such as gloves, socks, neck warmers, and hand warmers becomes essential. Comfort items like hot chocolate and Wagon Wheels also bring a moment of warmth and joy to many people in our community who are too often forgotten.
