What is 'Raise a Roof?'
Dear Friends, Family, Clients, and Collectors,
On our 2014 trip to Cabo San Lucas, Jeannie and I were introduced to Fernanda and Bertha Munoz. We arrived in Cabo just two weeks after Hurricane Odile, and less than 48 hours after the airport in San Jose had reopened. Much of the city was still in clean-up and rebuilding from the seven-hour storm, which had caused major damage to many, many businesses and homes. Bertha had been in the process of finishing the second room on their two-room house which was to become their kitchen. The storm blew out the window and door and destroyed the roof. Bertha would never be able to rebuild without help. Jeannie and Laura and I decided on our first day there that we would raise money to come back in the spring to rebuild the roof and finish the room for them. Laura has known Bertha since she was nine, and has watched Fernanda grow into a bright and beautiful pre-teen and Jeannie and I absolutely fell in love with their joyful spirits in the midst of somewhat constant hardship only heightened by their loss.
We are leaving tomorrow to go down for eight days and finish the project and still need between $1000-$1200 for materials, labor, and other project costs.
Helping this family has become very important to us. Jeannie, and Laura, and I are giving our time and money and we appreciate your support as well.
Will you please give $100, $250, $500 or more for our service project?

Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Much love,
Andrew, Jeannie, Laura, Bertha, and Fernanda
