I am reaching out to this community seeking support for my stepmother, Iris Xenakis. 4 years ago, her mother (Martha) was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Martha has been through years of grueling treatment and has been a true warrior through it all. However, last week, Iris received the devastating news that the cancer has spread, treatments are no longer working, and her mother has been given just months to live.

Iris immigrated to the United States many years ago from Nicaragua, where her mother still resides. It is immensely important that Iris be able to make it back home to Nicaragua to care for and support her mother. With time against her, every moment is important.

Iris owns and operates her own small cleaning business and to make this crucial trip happen, she would need to stop working, resulting in a complete loss of wages while incurring expenses through travel, providing care for her mother, and continuing to cover bills, housing expenses, etc. while she's away.

This is an absolutely crushing blow to Iris and her family and I am leaning on this community so Iris can focus on what matters most during this time, spending this time with her mom. Iris has a huge heart and spends so much of her time being a caregiver for others. She deserves this support, and I am so grateful for anyone who can contribute to the gift of her not needing to worry about finances, on top of everything else she and her family are going through in this very difficult time.
