Tenderfoot friends, we need your help!
As you may have seen from Weston’s recent email, the Ford Expedition that he drives for Tenderfoot Adventure outings had a major engine failure on the way to Zion National Park, and is currently stranded in Burley Idaho.
The Ford service department in Burley performed a detailed internal inspection of the engine and determined that a spark plug failed, dropping pieces of the plug into the cylinder. This resulted in extensive damage to the cylinder, pistons, and crankcase.
Bottom line: the engine can’t be repaired and needs to be replaced. Weston gave us a bit more info, and a copy of the $18,000 repair estimate [See attached estimate]. As he said in his email, if he can’t find another shop to rebuild an engine for less, this is what he will be stuck with.
Impact to Tenderfoot Adventures: In Weston’s email he indicated that he has already cancelled Sunday hikes so he can work additional shifts at his job to generate extra income. He told us he will also need to take on a second job to cover both the repair bill and the original vehicle loan, which could potentially eliminate most weekday treks and hikes for the foreseeable future.
How we can help: There are many of us who have valued and benefited from the friendships, camaraderie and activities that Tenderfoot Adventures has provided over the years, and would like to see it continue.
With Weston’s permission, we have set up this Go Fund Me account to raise money to help cover the engine replacement cost. We ask that you please join us in contributing to help cover the repair costs and quickly restore the Tenderfoot Adventure activities we all enjoy.
Thank you!
