My name is Jessica. I am a mom of three, a wife, and someone who has always worked hard to build a life for my family. I've spent my life caring for others and chasing my goals with everything I have. But this year everything changed. I lost my dream job, moving from Patient Care to HealthTech, and facing a serious spinal condition, Anklyosing Spondylitis, that has left me temporarily disabled. I have had to learn what it means to start over, one painful step at a time.

Earlier this year, in March 2025, I lost my dream job — the one I worked so hard to build my life around. Not long after, everything changed. I began losing mobility, strength, and even bladder control. After countless tests, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and multiple herniated discs in my spine.

By May, I could no longer walk on my own. Surgery became my only choice if I wanted any chance of recovery. I underwent a lumbar spinal fusion in August, and while I’m grateful to still be here, the surgery has left me temporarily disabled. One week after surgery, I woke up unable to move. I was paralyzed from the waist down. After extensive pain management and weeks of Physicial therapy, I am relearning how to walk. I still can’t drive, or do many of the necessary things that have to been done to care for a family of 5...

Since March, i have submitted over a thousand job application - from professional to retail, and have landed a single interview. On top of the disappointment of not being able to find work despite my educations, experience, and determination, my current physical limitations leave me unable to stand or walk for long periods of time. Every door seems to be closed.

My husband works incredibly hard to support us, but no matter how hard he tries, it’s not enough. We are now four months behind on our mortgage, struggling to keep up with our vehicle payments, can no longer afford daycare and are overwhlemed with Medical bills. Every day, we’re doing our best just to hold things together for our family. But being able to survive in this economy feel impossible.

I have applied for every form of assistance available in Texas, including national and state programs to local charity organizations, and churches. We’ve been denied for every form of assistance except for SNAP which I am beyond grateful for. We also have a wonderful partner through our school district that is helping us with winter clothes, shoes, and glasses for my 3 kids (7, 6, and 3). While we are beyond grateful for the assistance we recieve now, we are still struggling financially and are at risk of losing our home. A home that I worked so incredibly hard for as the primary financial provider of my family.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Catching up on Mortgage Payments, to keep a safe and stable roof over our head
- Covering our car payment, so I can continue getting to medical appointments
- Childcare costs, so our kids can be safe and cared for while I attend Physical Therapy and look for employment
- Medical and recovery expenses, as I continue to heal and work toward walking and fully functioning again

This is the hardest chapter of my life. I’m doing everything I can to stay hopeful — for myself, for my husband, and for our children. While all my efforts seem to be rejected or diminished, I am fighting every single day to heal, rebuild, and to be the mother and wife my family deserves.

I believe in getting back up everytime life knows you down, but right now I have met rock bottom and am desperately asking for help.

If you are able to donate or share this page, please know it means the world to us. Your kindness gives us hope and helps us breathe a little easier. Please, if you are able, please help me save my home while I continue to heal.

With all my heart,
Jessica
