Yorkshire 3 Peaks for Teesside Stroke Club
Redcar NHS Stroke Rehabilitation Team are raising money in aid of TEESSIDE STROKE CLUB and every donation will help. We are walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 5th August 2023 and are raising money for a local Stroke survivors club. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is a 26 mile walk including the peaks of Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m) and Pen-Y-Ghent (694m) and is to be completed in under 12 hours. The TEESSIDE STROKE CLUB rely on donations and only charge members £1 a week to allow members to continue to attend in the current cost of living crisis. Some members are unable to drive and struggle to attend due to transport issues. Donations will be used for equipment, transport/travel, paying for the rent of the gym where the session is held, as well as providing funds for group activities for social inclusion. The TEESSIDE STROKE CLUB is a charity run by dedicated volunteers and Professional Fitness Coaches. They are a unique club offering weekly session that provides: • Sympathetic understanding from dedicated volunteers and other stroke survivors and other members in a lighthearted atmosphere. • An opportunity for exercise and rehabilitation with specialist equipment where required. • Help to stimulate speech, mobility and memory. • Social activities with other participants. • Lots of 'secondary' activities are organised by the club and other participants. • Each session finishes with a cup of tea/coffee/biscuit and the opportunity to chat with the other participants and volunteers for peer support and friendship. Every five minutes, a stroke destroys lives. The TEESSIDE STROKE CLUB can help rebuild them. When a stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That’s because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. Life changes instantly. Recovery is tough, but with the right support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt. TEESSIDE STROKE CLUB offer friendly support and is only possible with the courage and determination of its members, our volunteers and our trained fitness coaches. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that offers so much physical, social and emotional support to Stroke survivors in the Teesside area.
