My name is Iman Pirzada and I am a junior at The Wheatley School in the East Williston School District. I started a non-profit organization in the summer of 2019 called Teens Against Hunger - New York. My organization has been providing a local shelter with food once a week since this organization's inception.
Hunger is one of the biggest problems our world faces. There are many different facets to hunger but one of the problems that most people are unfamiliar with is Food Insecurity. Food insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. Many families in the US do not have enough money to purchase healthy food or buy food at all. Many families who are food insecure still have jobs, go to school, and have houses. Now, to worsen matters, we are all facing this global pandemic. COVID-19 has changed the world as we know it. Countless people have lost their jobs. Many more families on Long Island now are suffering from food insecurity and wondering how they are going to bring the next meal for themselves. Up until now, Teens Against Hunger - has been funded by my close family. It is my mission to grow this organization and meet the needs of more families in dire need of food during this pandemic and thereafter. Please help me accomplish my goal of $5000. With this money we will be able to distribute pre-packaged meals to families in need. Any dollar amount is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping in our community.
Please like and join my Facebook page where I will be posting updates.
