Hi
My name is Aimi and in December my beautiful daughter decided to take her own life. She suffered with Mental Health for a while and thought that this was her only option. To keep my mind clear and my own mental health in check I started swimming as a way of coping (Can't cry when your swimming believe
me I tried!!) I don't want anyone to have to go through what I did and have to plan your own child’s funeral so I have decided to create something positive about this situation and I am going to swim the Channel !
I have decided to take on the challenge to swim the 22 miles which is 1416 lengths in 24 hours at my wonderful leisure centre in Kidsgrove. I will be doing it in 3 x 8 hour sittings. Now anyone who knows me will understand that this is a challenge considering I would drive 1/4 mile to the shop rather than walk and forgo having an evening meal and eat a tub of Ben & Jerrys !
I have regularly been swimming since Cait passed away mainly to help me focus and keep me a little bit sane most mornings and some evenings but only for 1-1.5hours at a time so over the next 8 weeks I will be building up my stamina ready for the big event which I’m hoping is going to be 3rd 5th and 7th July starting at 6.30am each day. If by doing this I can help 1 child see that there is hope then that would help save any parents of the heartache I went through.
Thanks in advance for all your support
Aimi
