Teeling Centre Upgrade

The centre has been a focal point within the community since its purchase over 50 years ago. It has been part of the community since 1986 and is a place for everyone in the community to come and get involved in community and social activities. The centre services the surrounding areas of Ballintogher, Ballymote, Ballisodare, Coolaney and Collooney.

It is used for indoor football, keep-fit classes, children parties, general activities and previously some of the rooms were used to support a FAS computer training scheme.

We are now in the process of upgrading the centre and need the community and businesses alike to support us. We have commissioned consulting engineers to support us with developing the plan and managing the renovation programme. The centre development committee have just finalised development plans.

We have obtained funding from the Dept of Rural Affairs to support the upgrade. In order to draw down these funds we need to raise over €20,000.

• The main floor needs repair in places and repainting. It is a fine space and companies and groups can use it for employee after work sport or team building activities.

• The toilet block needs a complete overall, and redesign to incorporate special needs facilities.

• The upstairs community room which was a bar when the centre was used for dances many years ago. It is to be completely renovated and insulated with a new ceiling and sound proofing, new furniture and small kitchenette provided.

• The rooms that FAS used in the past are to be upgraded and insulated to provide a training room or good quality meeting room as we think that this is a section of the market that we do not serve at the minute. This room may be of interest to you to hold meetings or training days there.

The other major works are, the complete rewiring for safety and fire reasons, insulating all the areas that are mentioned above and providing a new heating system throughout.
