Hi everyone. My name is Yvonne, and I’m an independent TV producer and I’m reaching out because I need your help to bring an important and deeply human story to life.

This short film, Teddy Bears, tells the true story of an elderly man who, after losing his son to suicide, has made it his life’s mission to try and save others. In his grief, he asked himself a simple but powerful question: what if I could help even one person?

He began travelling across Ireland, placing teddy bears on bridges — each one accompanied by a small solar light and a message of hope: that even in the darkest moments, there is still light. Alongside this, he left his phone number and the number for the Samaritans, offering a lifeline to anyone who might need it.

What started as one man’s quiet act of compassion has grown into something extraordinary. Communities across Ireland — and even as far as America — have embraced his idea. People are now placing teddy bears in their own towns and cities, and lives have been saved. We may never know how many.

There’s something universal and deeply emotional about a teddy bear. For a brief moment, it can take someone back to childhood — to a time of comfort, safety, and being cared for. In a moment of crisis, that feeling can be enough to pause, to reflect, and to choose to keep going.

I want to make this film to share that message with the world — to show how one small act of kindness can ripple outward and create real change. My hope is that it will inspire others, everywhere, to carry this idea forward and help save lives.

Every single cent we raise will go toward production, filming across locations, finding people Mick has helped and ensuring the film reaches as wide an audience as possible through film festivals world wide.
