Hi all, this is Teddy’s story.
Teddy turned 4 in June 2020.
He is arguably one of the cutest and sweetest kids in the reception class of 2020; and seeing his huge grin every day after school used to make others around him beam with joy . He had the most incredible angelic like, bouncy blonde curly hair.
3 weeks after starting school he came out of class one day crying and inconsolable. His parents rushed him to hospital, and three weeks later he was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer.
Following diagnosis he immediately started the most intensive 6 month chemotherapy treatment plan available to children. This treatment could only be carried out at Queens Medical centre Nottingham, nearly 1.5hrs from his home.
Since the ambulance dropped him off in Nottingham early October 2020, he has only managed to make it home on a few occasions, even then only for a few days at a time due to his fragile state of health in-between chemotherapy.
If this ordeal hasn’t been enough for a four year old to cope with the Covid 19 pandemic has made everything even harder. His parents are the only people allowed to visit and stay with him at hospital; and only 1 at a time. He has only been able to see his big sister for the few precious days he was able to make it home. The hospital play facilities and the usual activities to entertain the children are not available, and he is not able to go outside at all whilst at the hospital. Extremely hard for Teddy who is such an outdoorsy and adventurous little boy.
Throughout his treatment Teddy has amazed everyone with strength and courage. After his 5th cycle of chemotherapy he unfortunately caught an infection that developed into Sepsis. He had a traumatic 2 weeks in intensive care battling for his life whilst the amazing doctors and nurses kept him with us. This was the hardest challenge so far and after nearly a month lying in a hospital bed he needed physio to build the strength back up in his legs to be able to walk again.
This little superstar just keeps on fighting back with everything that comes his way. He is truly a little a hero.
THAT’S WHERE YOU COME IN………
Teddy and his family have been going through this for 5 long months now, and of course it takes its toll on all of them. This family is always full of life and positivity, they are an inspiration to everyone they come across.
We want to give people the chance to be able to show their support and love during these crazy times.
When asked if money might help with bills, travel, loss of income..the answer was “no thank you because everyone is struggling at the minute we are ok”. This alone tells you the type of people they are – incredible!
Usually when children go through this life changing experience, charities and organisations help with wonderful days out, celebrity hospital visits and other ways to support and distract these brave kids during this ordeal. Teddy hasn’t had this due to the covid 19 pandemic; so we want to give him something special to reward him for being so amazing and brave throughout all of this.
Teddy loves bikes, swimming and the outdoors.
His dad has promised him his first little motocross bike (as he’s always wanted one) for his 5th birthday. I’m sure his dad will do whatever he can to make this dream come true but we can make a huge difference here. He would love to be able to afford an electric dirt bike that is safer and more practical but they are expensive.
Teddy has been asking about swimming everyday (even before he got Ill). The family have an outdoor paddling pool they put up every summer in the garden. This money could contribute towards a pool heater that will enable Teddy to swim everyday (when he can) til his heart’s content. Because he’s had a Hickman line since starting treatment Teddy has been unable to have a proper bath since September yet alone jumping into water which he loves more than anything else.
It took a lot of thinking for the family to agree to this giving page. They didn’t want to be seen as profiting from Teddys illness. Eventually though when all things were considered, the fact that only 1 child out of 150 thousand a year are diagnosed with NF Lymphoma, they were happy for me to set up this page.
Teddy has been incredible and he is doing well; but there will be lifelong effects from this, so why should he not deserve a treat? So whether you can donate £1 or a bit more, it all goes to this incredibly brave boy.
Thank you from the bottom of every heart that this incredible, funny, sweet strong and awesome little boy has had an effect on.
