Team Luke’s Legacy

My name is jon nichol Im a local businessman from Cleveleys Since losing my own son Luke to suicide on May 4th 2019 the heartbreak, emotional and mental impact was huge, I found there was such a lack of support / services and lengthy delays for local people that need the help now , rather than be told you have an appointment booked for a review in three weeks, three days is too long when your not in a good place and suffering, I found away of distracting my mindset and this was in cycling, being out in the fresh air clearing the mind, whilst reflecting on what changes I felt were needed for support it hit me, cycling charity events I have quite an extensive platform of friends businesses, back in 2021 we got a group of 5 people together to help fund raise and cycle the Christie’s Manchester to blackpool charity bike ride, 2022 we took on the ride again this time with 20 riders,

in 2023 we had an amazing 40 riders in our team which was a record breaking single team entry in the history of the event, then last year we broke that record again as we had 42 riders in our group

A few riders came up with the cycling group name of Team “Luke’s Legacy” We are heading out again this year to raise funds for a local charities

Dohertys Destiny & Counselling in the Community (more are welcome to join the cycling team this year to see if we can make it another record breaker) and also help us beat last years amazing figure in total of £7500.
