Team Flukelorico enters the Mongol Rally

It was a rainy day in the british country side, when Sofia and Pedro had the most brilliant idea of all times, join the greatest motoring adventure on the planet, The Mongol Rally! This summer, team Flukelorico (what we will call ourselves) will drive more than 10,000 miles in a 87’ Suzuki through mountains, desert and steppe from Lisbon to Ulan-Ude (Russia) - some call it reckless and utterly stupid, we call it brave and a unique lifetime experience.
As it couldn't fail to be this personal challenge also has a social component, we are committed to raising over £3,000 for two charities that are particularly close to our hearts: the Christiana Noble Children's Foundation and Cool Earth.
The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation is dedicated to serving vulnerable children in Mongolia who are in need of housing, medical care and educational opportunities. With Ulaanbataar being the coldest capital city in the world, having temperatures reaching -40 to -50 degree Celsius, inadequate housing presents a deadly threat to its poorest inhabitants. That's why we have set ourselves the goal to raise £2,800 - enough money to gift a "Ger" (traditional nomadic tent) to a family in need. A "Ger" does not only remove children from squalid and unhealthy living conditions but offers security to families under pressure. Your support will enable us to visit a family in need and positively transform their life.

Cool Earth, the official charity partner of the Mongol Rally, is a non-profit organisation that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and climate change. So far 216,402,960 trees have been protected and 234,436,540 tonnes of CO2 stored through the organisation's efforts in all three rainforest biomes – the Congo Basin, Amazonia and Oceania. Cool Earth's approach is unique in that it puts people (not trees) at the frontline of their efforts. So whilst your donation is protecting the rainforest and its countless species, such as the Philippine Tarsier (go look it up it's cute!!) you are also supporting the creation of resilient communities through education and health programmes.

Any and all rally and travel related costs are carried by us and your donation will be used solely to support our chosen charities.
