So, if you know Brumby, then you already know the kind of person we’re talking about: wildly creative, deeply generous, and endlessly committed to the people he loves. He’s the guy who makes everything he touches more thoughtful, more beautiful, and always more enjoyable. Whether through his work, his friendships, or his role as a loving father and partner, Brumby shows up for others in a big way.

Tragically, Brumby has suffered a rare type of stroke with a catastrophic brain bleed. He’s currently in critical condition, and each hour in the Neuro ICU is filled with the frightening unknown of what tomorrow may bring. His recovery remains uncertain, and while his medical team is both optimistic and realistic, we are still far from out of the woods. In the best-case scenario, Brumby will remain in the ICU for at least three weeks, and his difficult recovery and rehabilitation will take a year or more—a devastating setback for someone who takes such immense pride in his craft and in providing for his family. We try not to think about the worst-case scenario.

Brumby can’t ask for help, nor would he ever, so those of us who love him dearly are stepping in. This fund will help support Brumby and his family during this life-threatening crisis and along his tough road to recovery. Brumby’s wonderful children, Henry and Beanie, their devoted mother, Heather, and his incredible partner Lily, are each making great sacrifices to give him the time, space, and support he needs, so we can all hopefully get back to sharing more good days with Brumby someday.

Importantly, these funds will also help ensure Henry Beck can continue his college education—a priority that would mean the world to Brumby—so he can keep pursuing his dreams even as his dad fights to heal. And we all know the reality of medical bills, even with top-of-the-line insurance, which only adds to the financial weight this family is carrying.
